My room, my life

I returned home earlier today, at 12mn

Band chalet was good. Had combined sports meet yesterday morning and I find it really quite a waste of time, even the faculty cheering is pathetic, Arthemis and Athena combined is still less than what Ares has.

Sometimes these kind of things are just the number of people that matters. The more people there, the more you would want to stay and cheer for your own faculty. However, given the nature of some students in Athena as well as some other Faculty, they simply just pon after taking attendance in the morning or slack off the whole day without even coming to school. Athena is already a smaller faculty, on top of that, the number of "poners" just make everything less interesting for those who actually stayed behind and cheer.

We are so afraid of taking the intiative to stay back and cheer. Some of us just couldn't care less and always think that we have better things to do that sitting there, getting drowned in the voices of all people.

What is the original aims and objectives of the whole sports meet itself? To increase faculty spirits, school spirits or even interactions amongst the high school students and the NY girls?

Or having one for the sake of having one every year just because we have been doing it all along.

CSM should not be abolished because it signifies the level of atheletic performances of the school. However, it should be considered how can CSM actually attract the attention of the student population. Every year the sports meet has been a routine, with the highlight of the faculty cheering. It has been the same all the years that it is beginning to lose interest in the student population, especially among the J2s. CSM in college will become worse, due to the influx of the Chinese High students with their culture of "just pon" and the lack of school spirits. With decreased number of people in a particular faculty over time during the CSM, the more likely the remaining people would pon or just slack off because the highlight of faculty cheering event is no longer appealing to them.

I am not justifying students who pon the event, who manage to escape the junior NPCC. As one of the slackers sitting near the clock tower, instead of forcing students to go for such events, the school can consider how they can actually attract students to go down and support the event. It is definitely not easy, if not the school would have implement the ideas long ago.

***************
the usual physics gang went out to have lunch again, xinwei jiawei elicia junquan audrey and I decide to go Crystal Jade to have our lunch. Xinwei really likes to make Elicia treat people, even though it is in their contract, but poor elicia has to succumb to xinwei's pressure and give way in the end. I couldn't be with them till the end of the lunch because I have to rush back for Band prac at 1pm (i left the place at 1pm). took a bus back to school on 171 and only reaching SALT centre realising that everyone has been broken up into sectionals and half of the section (actually the guys) are sleeping soundly as usual on the carpeted floor. Did our ensemble pieces before everyone came back for combined. blah blah blah the usual practice stuffs. more interesting things are those following the band practise, the chalet!

chalet has been overall quite last minute and chaotic. First there is a communication breakdown between Yumin, Steve and Ai Wen, so our dear SL Ai Wen has to bring all the other people to the destination herself. The long bus rides are coupled with interesting stories about people in band that I would not have otherwise known. We met another group of the band members going to chalet on the way, and we squeezed onto this bus that has average frequency of 20minutes per bus. It was another fairly long ride to Tampinese interchange. We bought our dinner and some drinks at the NTUC there, and some of us cabbed to chalet while the rest took the bus there. In the end, everyone reached at 830pm.

I learnt a new dish yesterday, that is to fry spaghetti with bacon chilli and garlic. It smells nice.. and tastes very nice too. After which some of us decide to go to Old Changi Hospital which is just walking distance from the chalet. It was really old and creepy, and coupled with some weird paints on the walls of the hospital makes everything feels even more eerie. Met some 62 and 60 guys who left from the Athena Fac outing. If not for them I would have gone deeper into the building. Some of the things that they are doing really made me uncomfortable and weird, so I decide to leave the place with the others. It is exciting enough for me.

Sit around and play a bit more before saying goodbye to them. Hopped onto Mr Leng's car and troubled him to send me home. Reached at 12mn, home sweet home =)

There is still so much I wanna say, but I think time has run short for me. I intended to have this day to catch up on my work instead of staying over at chalet. I shant disappoint myself. Till next time!

Ya for the first time ever in my life, my schedule is packed. Never had a proper CCA since secondary school. I am contented with what I have now.

How hard is it to be actually be contented with what you have now.

It really struck me when one can actually be so discontent with life. We want this and we want that in life. We have endless greed, so much so that we want to have anything just by a snap of our fingers.

I bet this must be the reason why economists say mild inflation is good for the economy. People are constantly seeking for pay rise, so they work a little harder than usual so they get the pay rise. People feel good with the pay rise, because they thought they have more money to spend on goods and services. Nonetheless, because of all these pay rise, it leads to inflation. But this inflation is good, people feel shuang after the pay rise because they thought they have more money. This "feel good" sensation spurs the economy, people are constantly trying to do better to get a pay rise. But if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture, inflation has caused the actual purchasing power of your rise in income less than what you expect it to have been. The ultimate result: nothing much has changed.

Nonetheless, being dissatisfied with what one has actually spurs the economy.

And why are we not able to be satisfied with our lives? The reason behind it is because we are perpectually thinking about the future instead of now. When you are eating lunch, you will start thinking what will be the dinner tonight. When you start doing your homework now, you will start to worry you don't have enough time to sleep. When you are in lecture, you start thinking what to do in your free afternoon. When one weekend ends, you will start to look forward to the next weekend. The weekdays are nothing but fillers to your next weekend.

When is the last time you actually do something till you look at the time and exclaim "wah it is so late already?"

That is exactly when you are enjoying every single moment of the elapsed time.

Did you watch the movie "Click"? If you did not, I strongly encourage you to catch this movie. It depicts exactly how one, who is constantly not contented with his life, tries to fastforward all the boring parts of their life, until he has lost the true meaning of life.

Tune back your clock, stop fastforwarding your life. Be contented what you have now, and stop predicting your future. What you do now will impact what happens later.
