What are the three primary colours?
If your answer is Red, Green and Blue, think again, doesn't your colour printer uses Red, Blue, and Yellow as the three fundamental colours to your wide spectrum of colours in your print?
So basically, that is the question that bothered the 6 of us earlier last week. While one person insisted on RGB, the other insisted on RGY. It is interesting to debate, well, not really debating but trying to convince the other that his is the three primary colours. I always throught RGB is the primary colour but some part of my memory says RBY is the primary colour. So how can there be two sets of primary colours in nature?
The answer to this question is really simple (not until I did some research on the net). The answer is, RGB is the primary colour for addictive primaries and RGY (to be more appropriate, Cyan Magenta and yellow) are subtractive primaries. To put it simply, media that use reflected light to produce colours are categoried under subtractive colouring. Example of such will be painting. Media that produce colours by emitting light itself uses addictive colouring. Example will be the projector.
So basically, depending on which context you are talking about, you have a different set of primary colours. Doesn't that sound like the wave-particle duality that a photon has? Under different circumstance, it behaves differently. but it always behaves the same way under the same set of conditions.
And that concludes the mini-discussion that we had in Bn HQ.
Usually when you talk about this kind of "more academic" stuffs in the army, people usually say that you are a nerd, no life, which ironically, we have no life in army, but that is besides the point. It seems like only TY, BX and I are willing to talk about these kind of stuffs. Ranging from discussing COS duty forecast till the point of economic theory, to physics relativity, to the three primary colours. You can say that we have no life until we have to tlak about these in army. If you put it that way, so be it. At least I am making my brain useful.
Army isn't all that bad actually. I will probably be in my best physical fitness for these two years thanks to the MANDATORY 5BX every morning. If you haven't smelled the sacarsm, I am sorry, I will try to make it more explicit next time. It is not really the 5BX but about who you are doing with. I mean, I hate running alone. It is damn boring and no one to motivate you or give chase. Though I must admit I am slowly enjoying running to keep myself fit. Sometimes, in life, you will just meet that somebody that has the potential to influence your way of life. Depending on how you choose your friends, the outcome can be two way. I believe I have not made the wrong choice so far in my life =) have been meeting with people that made an impact on my way of life.

Oh, I seem to talk about a lot of things this weekend? That is because I have been thinking quite a lot during my free time in XSB. Lol.
I have learnt much this week, that an orindary section commander would not learn. A section is really one pathetic force in the context of war, which makes the section commanders a really small fry in the army. Even a PC is negligible on the field. I am looking at Coy and Bn level. (and also have come to the realisation that an inf platoon can die in a blink of eye). I mean, if a coy of 102 can be reduced to 9 in a matter of minutes before you even fight, that is really pathetic (and scary! If we are ever gonna go to war). So, are you still gonna complain about digging fire trenches?
I have been mixing around with all the NSmen, NS officers to be exact. I realise that are actually so many officers, which makes me feel kinda inferior. Lol. I consider myself to be more on the planning side, but don't know why I become a spec. Maybe I am not good enough, hmm. Eithe way, back to the point, I am really amazed by many people (especially my CO). Maybe is because of their experience, they can tell you where are the problems and key GTIs just by looking at the map, which is damn messy (to me). That kind of logical thinking and planning should be more helpful in life than f-ing your men and get them to work, eh? I would be lying if I say that I am not biased towards the officer corp, but since I am a spec, the least I must do is to do what I must, right? Count myself lucky to be in Bn HQ, at least I use more brains than the others.
A lot of things I cannot say (if not my S2 is gonna come after me). One more week to end of exercise, lots of more things waiting for me to learn and experience. Yeah, that is the positive mindset =)

This emptiness is killing me.
I don't understand, this is not the first time I am staying here alone, yet why the strong sense of bewilderment and loss?
It is just 12hours and it felt as if time has passed etnernally.
I have been spending my time doing completely unproductive stuffs like surfing randomly and playing old games. That is not going to help me in any way.
There are a few things I want to do, but I am just not willing to take the first step?

Went down to Aljunied to meet up with my friend to attend a presentation on a company that he is working in as a sales member. Somehow, the word moonlighting appears straight in my head after listening to the presentation.
Seriously, today is an overload of information.
I need someone to talk to regarding what I have gone through today. But no one seems to be available.
And I don't want to tell my parents about it until I have a clearer picture about this whole organisation and this "network marketing".
I know there are a lot of skeptical remarks on this network marketing because they are often associated with fake products that con people's money. That is why I feel insecure about this business when my friend intro this to me. I have already signed on as a member at a cost of 10 bucks, but I have yet to decide if I want to be involved in the sales.
I am looking at it as a chance to learn, to experience how sales is like. but this is the first part time job that I am taking up and I seriously have no clue of what kind of stuffs I am expecting.
Seriously, I think I need to talk to people.

Got my ISAC card this week =)
Haha, feels quite good actually. I mean, this card is like an entitlement to the superior commanders and you have one too =)
eh, my S4 clerk has one too =.=
But you will be surprised.. when I just do a random search on the global address, I found many familiar names.. people like jiawei, marcus, kahong, my ex-commanders, PC, OC. I would say it is a chance to actually catch up with people even in army, LOL
I realise I have learnt a lot about the way the whole SAF organisation is operated at a higher level. Back in SISPEC, we probably wont even know what is a Bn. The most we know is a company. And now I know more stuffs, I am quite amazed at how sophisticated the whole organisation is.
Shan't elaborate more here =)
Gonna be away for the next two weeks.. Off for exercises. Don't worry, I don't think I am gonna burn my weekends.. Hopefully I can come back at least one of the weekends to rest at home.. else it is really sian
This week has been quite a busy week, preparing the meeting that ended earlier today. I just had a taste of what my life is gonna be like, as the one in charge of the whole bn's results. Just the commanders are making me crazy. I can probably remember by heart who is excused who is downgraded permanent or not and whatever they have not cleared. I can't imagine how it is gonna be like when the mono starts. Some of you may not understand why I am stressed. The fact is, if I were in rifle coy, when I screw up, at least only my section screws up. Now if I screw up, the whole Bn is gonna be affected.
So there is practically no room for mistakes.
Good news! We are gonna get 1 more specs posting in to Bn HQ, and one of the PTE is gonna be promoted to 3SG! haha, which makes me feel a bit sad. Many of us worked so hard to be promoted to 3SG but this person just needs to pass IPPT to become a 3SG. =.= feels so cheated, lol. hopefully he can do the COS duty too so we will have 2 more specs to relieve the current six of the duties. Hehe, make them do the CNY and X'mas. =X
Tomorrow gonna meet up with seng jeong. He is introing me some business opportunity. apparently many of my friends in other companies are involved in this too. Makes me quite curious what it is.. gonna go down to aljunied tmr to see see. Haha, though I think I am not the business kind of person, but no harm learning more about this business thing, yeah? hehe
Bro gonna fly off on sunday.. I must say I am quite worried for him especially the part when he has to make his own way out from China's immigration. Hope the immigration officer there don't tekan him just because he is holding on to a Taiwan passport, Lol.
finally.. Good luck to junquan going brunei for JCC. May he find a monitor lizard to exchange for a Banana, his most hated fruit. Hehe, but then again, you will eat anything when you are hungry. Ah, really respect all the guys who survive through JCC. Really cant imagine myself going through all that.
Okay, time to sleep now so.. see ya guys.

An early book out today, teeheehee.
Only for me and two other specs from SP.
This week is fun, went chalet with my commanders. Lol, they do their stuffs, I do my runner job. haha. Basically the three day two night is just "stand-by" duties. One snap of fingers and I will go.
Buy lunch/dinner/kopi/teh, that is bascially my job during the whole stay there. It is interesting to see the CV side of your commanders. Only then I realise actually people can behave quite differently when they are in green and when they are in rainbow. Should I call that professionalism? Nevetheless, the CV side is obviously better than the other =)
Only the second night was fun because of the BBQ, where all the commanders are to bring their wives/girlfriends/mother/grandmother or maybe 'babos'. Many of them actually turned up. Unfortunately, they are only available for Window Shoppers - See see also happy. I was, once again, the OIC for firepit. I just like to BBQ food =)
Really must thank S1 for bringing the Wii to the chalet else I would be really bored to death on the second night. But now I am so tired that I can probably sleep from now until tomorrow morning. The new S3 seems like a nice guy, talked to him for a bit, and he posted me the same question when I first met the current (outgoing) S3,
"Why you all want to come HQ ah? Sec Comm slacker what."
And so he gave a (largely similiar to S3) explanation. I think I can write it down here if I am actually allowed to.
I guess it is just a different kind of job la.. Just like when people enter JC, some people chose to take up Econs not because they really have the passion for it but rather to try out the new subject. okay, at least that is the case for me.
Going back to camp on Sunday for COS, arghhhh

I just reaslised, it is about one more year to ORD. Come to think of it, time really flies.
Things have more or less settled down in my new and final unit. Very soon we are gonna start the new page of Chapter 14. Chapter 13 ended with a bang and I hope the new Chapter will be even more exhilarating and exciting.
Last week has been spent doing CCT. Grading is coming and I am not at all confident to really sit for this test. Would really need some revision when I go back tomorrow. Other than CCT, I guess the only meaningful thing I did was to do up a COS planning guide. Lol, it is probably the funniest thing I have ever done since the day I got enlisted. Do you think it is simple to plan COS duty such that everyone is happy with their days? It is not easy at all. You can roughly divide the days into weekdays and weekends, but friday is half a weekend and sunday is another half. A lot of complications, and without the use of Economics (LOL) it is practically not possible to come up with the system that we are gonna use in my company. Okay, you probably think that we are so giam until every single hour counts. The fact is some people are like that! Even eve of holidays have to be calculated in a different way. I mean, this is probably the fairest duty allocation I have ever seen. If I have the chance I would like to share it here, but the information is CLASSIFIED =) commercial secret. Maybe it can even become a WITS project, haha.
I am gonna buy a pillow from IKEA and bring it to camp in the coming pay day. Come to think of it, the bunk is like my second home and I ought to make it as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, right? At least I know I will be sleeping there for the next 1 year.
